Motivational Displacement
Definition: Motivational displacement occurs when the one-caring puts aside his or her own problems to help the one-cared for.
Noddings: When a teacher responds "in a way that furthers the other's project" and displaces her original project.
Example: If the one-caring is on his way to get the mail, is stopped by a cared-for learner and is asked for assistance carrying in a class project, motivational displacement occurs when the one-caring teacher sets his mail run aside to help the cared-for learner carry in the class project.
