-The classroom functions as a democracy as much as possible with the teacher maintaining positive authority and responsibility

 

-Teachers and curricula are responsive to, and develop, the whole learner: emotionally, intellectually, physically, and aesthetically.

-Learning occurs through doing/kinesthetic involvement/participation rather than receptivity/passivity/compliance modes.

-Life skills are made relevant and such skills are developed in classroom lessons and lessons out-of-doors.

-The learner's capacity for rational thoughtis developed along with their powers of cooperation, collaboration, and teamwork.
