Transcendent Teaching

-The group is sensitized to civil and community needs. 

-Learners are taught to process content deeply, follwed by direct application in the form of carefully designed interdisciplinary projects. 

-Learners develop a deepened understanding of how a democracy works and how an individual functions effectively in a democracy.

-The group develops skills to connect civil inequity, relatied problesm and injustice.

-Learners learn social as well as personal values

-Learners become involved in service and other community projects.

-Community projects become a theme for the integration of all content across the entire curriculum.

-Learners develop socio-political intelligence.

-The relationship of teacher to learner is collegial.

-The learner's imagination is stimulated and applied as the capacity for empathy and compassion evolves.
