Transcendent Teaching
To Be a Shaman
"One who unleashes and revitalizes the health, illuminates the mind and spirit of the other"
- Dr. O'Hara
One guided by "a sort of predisposition, a dim foreknowledge emanating from the unconscious and guiding him in the direction of deeper understanding"
- Dr. Ryan
Shamanism
Shamanism is a type of relationship with which a transcendent teacher may engage. All shamanic teachers are also transcendent teachers, however all transcendent teachers are not shamanic. Shamanic teachers act to uplife, heal, and mobilize their students while helping shape them into better well rounded individuals. Shamans unearth the "root matter" and reveal "deeper dimensions of the psyche" for learners, according to Dr. Robert Ryan, author of Shamanism and the Psychology of C. G. Jung: The Great Circle. According to Dr. O'Hara, the shamanic teacher uses compelling powers to overcome the learner's past conditioning.
The shamanic teacher accesses the pleroma, which is
"the ultimate database for divine wisdom" (O'Hara,
2015, p. 21) to gain insight as to how best to serve the
learner, affording "the shaman wise, insightful and
profound unravelment" (O'Hara, 2015, p.21). The
shamanic teacher approaches learner as a raw,
unique individual.

Uplift
The shamanic teacher works to first uplift the learner. The learner is influenced morallly, socially, spiritually, and intellecually. Hope is inspired within the learner when the learner is uplifted.
Heal
Once the Shamanic teacher uplifts the learners, the shamanic teacher acts to heal the learner. Learners are healed on multiple levels and are able to overcome obstacles that have long stood in their way.

Mobilize
The shamanic teacher encourages and guides the learner in ways that will affirm the learner's self worth, intellect, value, and importanace. The learner is guided into a direction that makes them able to see the world in a new way they have not before.
Anne and Helen
Anne served as a shamanic teacher for Helen. As a shamanic teacher, Anne first started by uplifting, and liberating Helen. As a girl who lived in a dark and silent world, Anne, instead of seeing Helen as a challenge, she saw her as a girl she wanted to influence to see past her disability. She uplifted her in a way that made Helen to percieve herself as a human rather than as an animal.
Anne worked by healing Helen by introducing her to the power of communicating with others. Never able to communicate with the people before Anne, she introduced Helen to the power of language, therefore healing her from the obstacles she faced due to her disabilities.
Helen is then mobilized by Anne when Anne makes sure she is fully prepared to see the world as remarkable and herself as accomplished. Due to the work Anne did with Helen, Helen was able to succeed in transforming the world.
