Philosophers:

Dr. Hunter O'Hara created the philosophy of transcendence in pedagogical relationships and is one of the best examples of a philosopher in the field. Although transcendent philosophers have some overlap with existential, progressive, and reconstructionist philosophers, transcendent philosophy focuses on the quality of the relationships created between learner and teacher.

The relationship between teacher and learner is one of collegiality, mutuality, and authenticity.
The transcendent teacher creates a transcendent learning atmosphere and interaction that leads to transformation for both the teacher and the learner.
With regard to processing content, teacher and learner pursue a joint pilgrammage that leads to mutual development.
Transcendnet teachers deliberately create learning experiences that are designed to motivate and inspire learners, intellectually and emotionally, and facilitate that process through mutual collaboration.
Transcendent teachers are learner-centered facilitators of deeply meaningful learning experiences.
Transcendent teachers convey to learneres that they care about their learners personal welfare and taht they are intent on facilitating teh learneres positive development.
Transcendent teachers and their learners trade roles periodically as learners are encouraged to also teach.
Learner intellect is broadened and expanded as their quest for meaning is intensified.
Transcendent teachers and their learners act to create a "network of relationships," also known as a community (Greene, p.19).
